Innovex is a technology company building locally developed hardware and software that helps clean-energy businesses scale reliably across Africa. Our core offerings include REMOT (an loT and data platform for remote monitoring, after-sales support, and preventive maintenance), local electronics manufacturing, and engineering consulting services.

Role Purpose
The Commercial Engineer will play a key role in driving adoption of REMOT and Innovex’s hardware solutions (e.g. smart meters, controllers, and related electronics) across Africa. This role combines technical expertise with strong commercial acumen to:
- Identify, qualify, and close new business opportunities;
- Design and present technical solutions tailored to customer needs;
- Support customers through pilots, deployment, and early operations;
- Feed market insights back into product development.
The ideal candidate understands both the business case and the technical details of digital tools and energy solutions, is comfortable in front of customers, and thrives in a fast-paced, growth-stage environment.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
- 3-5 years experience in a Commercial Engineer, Technical Sales, Solutions Engineer, or similar role.
- Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in a technical sales environment.
- Strong understanding of:
- Energy systems, or related power systems; and/or
- Digital solutions (devices, connectivity, cloud, dashboards, APIs).
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Comfortable with data and digital tools (CRMs, dashboards, basic analytics).
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently within Uganda, across the region and continet as needed.
Preferred Skills & Attributes
- Experience responding to RFPs, writing proposals, and preparing commercial offers.
- Prior experience selling to B2B customers is preferred.
- Tech savvy and familiarity with cloud platforms and APls (e.g. REST APIs, webhooks) and integrations with third-party systems (e.g. CRMs, ERPs, billing platforms).
- Demonstrates exceptional organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities simultaneously.
- Self-driven, proactive, and comfortable working in a dynamic startup environment.
- Experience working with in the energy industry is a plus
- A passion for using technology to unlock economic opportunity and improve lives in Africa.
