On behalf of our client in the Logistics sector, we are looking for a competent, JUNIOR CASHIER to work in NAMANVE.
Job Title: Cashier Location: Namanve, Uganda Our client is seeking a reliable Cashier to manage daily cash and banking operations. In this vital role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring smooth financial transactions and maintaining accurate records. Key Responsibilities: – Manage daily cash and bank operations, including handling heavy cash disbursements to suppliers and disbursing cash to truck drivers for various purposes like trips, meals, layover etc. – Proactively assess cash availability for the next day’s operations and communicate estimated fund requirements to your reporting manager. – Process payments, ensuring an alert/approval email is sent before disbursing cash. – Create cash vouchers for all payments and ensure they are validated by the respective teams. – Accurately perform foreign currency conversions to local currency, exercising extreme care with significant amounts of funds. – Manage and organize supplier invoices. – Assist with account reconciliation alongside the Finance Manager.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, Procurement, Economics, or a related field.
- A Diploma in Accounting or Finance may also be considered if accompanied by relevant experience.
Experience
- At least 1–3 years’ experience in a cashier, accounts assistant, finance assistant, treasury assistant, or related role.
- Experience handling large volumes of cash and bank transactions.
- Experience preparing payment vouchers and processing supplier payments.
- Experience with cash reconciliations and financial record keeping.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to perform cash reconciliations and maintain accurate records.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
- Ability to handle foreign currency conversions accurately.
- Experience using accounting systems such as Sage, QuickBooks, Tally, ERP systems, or similar is an added advantage.
